Purpose of Department :
Wholesale Credit & Market Risk [WMR] is responsible for the approvals, policies, portfolio management and reporting on the Group’s Wholesale Credit and Market Risk exposures.
The WMR Offshore team supports WMR across CMB Approvals, Large Corporate / GB Approvals and Loan Management Unit. The team also validates Enterprise Valuations for leveraged lending deals, which is a key US Regulatory requirement.
Responsibilities of the role holder :
- Part of the Credit Risk team - the aim of the role is to undertake high level credit approving, monitoring and control for Global Private Banking (GPB), as well as undertake analysis of financial products and recommend Advance Rates in line with GPB Credit Policy – to ensure that GPB WMR (i) contributes to GPB’s growth strategy, (ii) participates in the maintenance of a stable lending portfolio and (iii) maintains appropriate credit standards in the approval and control of high level lending.
- This role has primary responsibility to review and approve new, increase and renewal of GPB credits according to delegated authority (and recommend to relevant approving authority, if exceeded) to ensure that the portfolio is of sound quality and acceptable returns and credit losses, if any, are minimized.
- Perform analysis and ongoing review/maintenance of advance ratios of eligible financial assets to ensure compliance with GPB Credit Policy.
- Perform ad-hoc/specific advance ratio reviews upon request from GPB WMR teams.
- Provide specific guidance and feedback to GPB WMR and Credit Advisory teams.
- Ensure that appropriate underwriting/monitoring/control standards in respect of GPB Credit Risk are in place
- To provide support to key initiatives on streamlining processes
Experience & Skills required :
- 5 to 8 years’ relevant experience in Credit Risk Management (Private Banking, Wealth Management, Commercial Banking)
- Good knowledge of private banking business and private bank (or investment bank) product offerings and credit policies and processes.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, financing structures & financial assets across the spectrum
- Strong communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Aware of wider global risk aspects of the role and an ability to adapt within a constantly changing environment
